Attacked by the vampire Dorian at the age of only seven, Raelyn always had a connection to the vampire world through the blood inside of Dorian, mingling in with the dreams and memories of the evil Coven. Dorian, sparring her life, became mortified at what he had done and disappeared for many years. Ten years later, Dorian returned to New Orleans in flight from the Coven Master Crow and eventually found Raelyn again. Neither of them realized the past they shared until Rae had already been sucked into the world of the vampires after the Coven murdered her best friend, Jak. They fell in love, but Dorian refused to Embrace her. "A short life is better than eternal death." he said. Together, they fought the Coven, but during the battle, Dorian was mortally wounded. He drank from Raelyn to save his unlife and, unintentionally, drained her almost to the edge of death in his wild desire for her. Dorian was forced to Embrace her only to save her.
A few years after becoming Embraced, Raelyn and Dorian stood together against the Werewolves of London. Rae, taking a painful hit in the chest, stumbled backwards and lost her balance, falling from the bridge into the river below. When she finally resurfaced, Dorian was nowhere to be found. Now she battles the werewolves recklessly, hoping for death or revenge, which every came first.
