Vampire Lisidis
Character description
As she was was wandering through the little streets of town, her eyes staring at the moon, her mind lost in abstraction, this young lost soul found herself face to face with an odd looking stranger. She could feel his eyes piercing their way through her young and wandering soul, when suddenly, darkness surrounded her. A cold embrace.
So many thoughts invaded her mind and made her unable to understand what was going on, or what she felt. . She had abandoned herself, before she even knew she had. Only one answer could be given to the wordless question that intruded into her mind.
"- Yes"
That one word was enough for her to obtain
her last wishes...
He lay her down on a beautiful red velvet baldaquin and dressed her in clean black velvet.
She was confused as she had never been before... what has she said "yes" to?
She lay there, starting at
him wondering if it was all just a dream, that the sun would soon rise, and all this would be forgotten.
She hadn't yet understood that she was never to see the sun rise again.
A soft voice again interrupted her painful thoughts, she was being asked her name with silent words.
"- Lisidis"
His name was Zamael, the silent voice told her.
His cold hands caressed her cheeks, freezing them at once. Fangs brushed her neck, as she lost consciousness.
When she awoke, she was feeling... different. No other word could describe how she felt.
She was no longer cold, the smells had changed around her, and the red velvet that had appeared as being soft, now seemed rough.
As she rose her eyes, she saw Zamael, surrounded by to women, to his left, was his mother, Lucilla, and to his right, a mysterious young woman. They no longer appeared as strangers, she was now like them.
She was beginning to understand, she had said "Yes" to eternity. The vampire had given her immortality. She was going to be able to live her past in the future.
She drew herself up and smiled. She had found a master, a father, and was to follow his steps.
Though within the depth of her heart, she knew she was going to spend eternity alone...
She roamed around with her instructor, as he taught her the basics in vampirism, caring to remember every single one of his words, all his long speeches in prose.
As she was being taught independence, her taste for adventure grew, and on a misty morning, a perfect morning for a thrilling manhunt, she wrapped around her shoulders the beautiful black cloak Zamael had given her, and tiptoed to the iron gates of her master's hideout. She took a last glance at the blood streaming down the river, and whispered :
"- Farewell"
and flew away.
Wandering from village to village, as she once had when she was a human, she finally spotted a perfect victim : a girl of her age that was sitting on the edge of a footpath, crying.
Lisidis, watched the young girl's tears melt into the mud of streaming down the gutter. She slowly approached her, then suddenly dug her fangs into the young girl's neck.
She was enchanted by her victim's blood, so enchanted that she wanted her victim as a daughter, the daughter she would never be able to have.
Mixing her blood with the pure blood of her victim ...The choice had been made...
As Lisidis released her daughter, she took a glance at her offspring's medallion : a silver little plate on which was engraved " Senna".
Lisidis abandonned her time to Senna's education. The two vampires had found a style of life that suited them : Senna worked at the Graveyard and rested in Lisidis's gloomy house, while Lisidis hunted and worked on Senna's hideout. As Senna's taste for blood increased, Lisidis was growing homesick, she hadn't seen her Master since that foggy morning when she turned her back to the beautiful forged iron gate that protected Zamael's mansion.
She had once thought she'd never see him again, but she had to.
She had to see him, before the next full moon. As the night of the full moon would be unsafe. Packs or even puritan covents would be roaming and could steal her daughter away...
By dusk, when Senna returned from the Graveyard, their goods were packed. Lisidis had tied them up in a red velvet bag.
"- Are you ready my daughter?"
Senna nodded.
Lisidis laced up her daughter's red satin corset, sewed up her skirt, and wrapped a cloak around her.
"- There you are my beautiful one, it's time to go now, we have quite a long way to go"
The mother and daughter promptly disappeared into the depths of the night, not even given themselves the time to satisfy their lust for blood - the smell of blood, around them, promising prey surrounded them and were wakening their ardent, sordid, rapacious appetites.
"- This path leads us to the gate of your dreams, doesn't it, mother?"
Lisidis answered by a brief glance, and then stared ahead.
Their pace accelerated. They now had now become two shadows, gliding above the dead, crunchy autumn leaves on the dirty ground.
Lisidis slid a nail across the iron gate's spikes. Then, she lowered her look. Senna stood behind her.
When Lisidis rose her eyes, Zamael was facing her, staring at her.
"- I was expecting your arrival" He said "I have something for you"
"- We won't be staying for long, I know she's here"
He turned his eyes away as he unlocked the gate's lock.
They followed him in, crossing the stone bridge under which blood bubbled.
Lisidis swallowed.
Zamael chuckled.
"- My daughter's hungry, isn't she?"
Lisidis smiled.
"- And so is your granddaughter!
- You'll see, my special treat won't disappoint you"
Zamael welcomed the vampires into a sumptuous room. The walls were covered with varnished wooden plates. On one wall, was a mantelpiece under which a fire burned. On each wall were candelabras, and from the ceiling hung the most stunning diamond chandelier. The curtains were made from red velvet. Lisidis remembered them. These curtains... she had embroidered them, in those days when sitting in a comfortable armchair, in front of the window, embroidering, as her Master read her tails from the other lands, or stories of the past, was enough to fulfill her.
His grumbling voice broke her dreamy state. He was talking to her daughter, his granddaughter. She was too tired to listen to what was being said.
She let herself sink into an armchair, and was brought to the land of the dreams.
Her hunger awoke her. She opened her eyes.
A girl was standing in front of her.
"- He told me to come to you"
Zamael appeared. He was standing behind the girl, as a satanical figure.
"- Take her, she's yours."
Lisidis dug her fangs into the girl's neck. Her blood was blissful. It was like boiling caramel, sugar and ice...
Images of a life, a beautiful life, and a sad life, that the vampire was stealing away.
Lisidis dropped her victim and ran outside. She needed to escape, she needed to breath, the irony of it all, was that she couldn't.
She had left her victim on the verge of death, that beautiful soul, so young, so innocent, so lost.
Lisidis still had in mind the images of the girl's life.
The girl was standing on the roof of a church, about to dive into oblivion, she thought it would save her from the abyss in which she had lost herself.
Then Zamael had appeared, and saved her. Her life took a new turn, and he had promised her to Lisidis from the start.
Lisidis couldn't understand it, or explain it, but the girl's blood had told her.... and blood never lies.
When Lisidis came back into the room, Senna was gone to wander around in the halls and hidden rooms of her grandfather's manor.
Zamael was lying above the girl, drinking the blood that remained in her veins.
"- No" Lisidis screamed. "-Don't kill her, let her live, please..."
"- Lisidis..." He turned to her, looked at her, with a sad an tired look.
"- Save her please" Lisidis fell on her knees and burst into tears as she said those words.
Zamael then turned back to his prey, cut his wrist, and made her drink his blood.
The trick was done...
Zamael walked out of the room, leaving Lisidis crying over the young girl, who no longer was one.
She covered the soon-to-be-a-vampire with her own cloak.
When Lisidis had calmed down, Zamael returned. Lisidis looked down, and asked in a timid voice :
"- What is her name?"
So many thoughts invaded her mind and made her unable to understand what was going on, or what she felt. . She had abandoned herself, before she even knew she had. Only one answer could be given to the wordless question that intruded into her mind.
