Vampire Sinestra
Clan:
Character description
Sinestra was born during the height of the Roman Empire's glory to a Roman general and a Celtic Princess. Raised in her mother's land, she roamed the countryside with her father learning the art of warfare as he trained his men, in spite of her mother's efforts to lead her down the path of peace. At nine, her father was falsely accused of treason against Rome and was executed before her eyes and the order given that the whole family forfeit their lives. She fled deep into the forests, racing toward home in an effort to save her mother. Together they took sanctuary in a Druid temple, aided by the goodness of the High Priestess. For a time she did her best to adhere to her mother's teachings as she fought to overcome her father's death. However, the fire of vengence burned too strong and soon she was leading armies to battle in their struggle to slip from Rome's grasp. During the final battle, Sinestra halted the advance of 10000 soldiers with barely 100 warriors. The slaughter was immense, but the Roman's losses were so heavy that they never again rose to power in her homeland. Soon after her victory, the people declared her Queen and she ruled for a decade in peace and prosperity. However, not all Celts were happy with the change. The new High Priestess, Cerwyn, was jealous, believing that the adoration heaped upon Sinestra was rightfully hers and that it should be the Druids who held power, not a half Roman witch (as she liked to call her where no one could hear). Being very powerful, Cerwyn and her followers brought Sinestra to the temple under the guise of giving their blessings for her continued rule, then drugged and bound her as they performed an ancient ceremony to condemn her to eternal suffering...a living Hell. "For as long as your blood flows in your veins, your torment shall never end...nor will your life. You are cursed for an eternity!" With those final words, Cerwyn ordered Sinestra bound, gagged and locked in an old beaten cask, to be buried deep in the forest where none could hear her scream. Embued with the curse and trapped within her narrow prison, Sinestra suffered for almost 1600 years, weak and depleted by the curse of the Jaelyn Arar. Then one night a creature seeking shelter from the sun dug in the earth where she lay, her cask long ago rotted away while her body remained whole and alive. The creature found her and was puzzled, but as the sun was due to rise at any moment, he ignored her presence and covered them both. Later that night, this creature arose, red eyed and hungry, searching for a victim. His senses told him there were none in the area except the pathetic creature in the hole. As he really didn't care to go hunting for rats or rabbits with his enemy so near in the area, Captain Jack snatched the girl from the hole and drained her blood within seconds. However, as he fed, he sensed the injustice of what had happened to this girl and he was curious enough in wanting to know what happened that he bit open his own wrist and forced some of his vampire blood down her throat. Within a few short hours, Sinestra was transformed. With the last of her own blood being replaced by the blood of a vampire, Sinestra was at last free from the curse cast on her by Cerwyn, her strength and beauty increasing thousandfold in seconds. With a brief explanation of what she needed to do, Captain Jack bade Sinestra to come along for a while as he hunted for his long time foe and a good bottle of rum. During that time, she learned of his quest of vengence and keenly felt rage at being unable to exact some of her own. For a time, she followed Cap. Jack, helping him track and hunt as he taught her all she needed to know. As her maker and the banisher of her pain, Sinestra was grateful, but she soon became restless, wishing to go out in the world and learn more of the wonders that she'd only heard of so far. She had also vowed long ago that she would wreck vengence on the decendants of Cerwyn and make them pay for the horrors she'd lived through for so long. With a brief goodbye, Sinestra left Captain Jack on the shores of Eire and set off on her quest. In time, she built a new life for herself, acquiring vast estates all over the world in which she could dwell in safety as she searched for her victims, those of Cerwyn's blood line. Two hundred years later, Sinestra learned to her mutual horror and delight that her archenemy, Cerwyn herself, had not died long ago as she assumed. With ancient spells taken from a decrepit tome, Cerwyn had given her soul to acquire immortality, but had sacrificed her own beauty as well. In a furious battle, Sinestra repeatedly attacks Cerwyn, her strength now enormous compared to what it once was. However, Cerwyn did not survive the ages by being meek. Her power had grown as well, making her a formiddable enemy that came near enough to defeating Sinestra. Clever as well as cunning, Sinestra finally wins the day by ripping Cerwyn's throat out with her claws. As Cerwyn lay dying, she reveals that she'd known Sinestra would find her one day, that she'd realized her mistake would come back to haunt her when another priest foretold the rise of a great and ancient enemy of her blood. With her last words, Cerwyn finishes her tale, giving the rest of the prophecy spoken almost 2000 years ago, that Sinestra would again control a vast empire, greater than she'd had before, but that her success would signal her doom. Momentarily stunned, Sinestra quickly recovers and tosses Cerwyn's body in the ocean before returning home. Since that day, Sinestra works tirelessly on reuniting the descendants of her people, trying to bring back the glory that was once hers and destroying anyone who followed Cerwyn's evil plans, human and immortal alike. Yesterday she cleared a village in the Carpathian Mountains. Tomorrow it may be yours.
