Character description
Looks: HaiKiuri is short, barely 5 foot tall and slim, owing to her poor up bringing. She has the long black hair typical of native Japanese; however, instead of being the equally usual dark brown, her eyes are pure black. Her back is rough with scars from beatings before becoming a gaki or Japanese vampire. Her skin has paled slightly (Japanese vampires don't fear the sunlight) and over the years she has risen quickly within her culture, becoming a well paid, and well fed, Geisha. Normally seen wearing a pure white kimono (White is the color of death in Japan) with white kitsune (a symbol of bad luck).
Personality: Shy by nature, her life as a gaki has given HaiKiuri courage and pride. Though still more likely to be meek upon first meeting, one soon sees that she has an intense inner strength, born of survival and the will to fight. Occasionally cruel, she has a soft spot for children and her vengeance is swift against those who would hurt them.
History: HaiKiuri grew up the child of poor rice farmers, ill treated and ill fed. Considered to be a child of supernatural birth and bad luck, she was shunned by the others of her village, leading her to seek out other play mates. To her surprise she found someone who was unafraid of her in a nearby forest. This new friend turned out to be a gaki who took her in. After a particularly horrible beating, she begged him to help her. Her friend, a gaki who fed on emotions, took pity and changed her into one of his kind. However, instead of following her maker's taste for music, HaiKiuri's appetite turned out to be much more vicious. Her food was blood and she took pleasure in decimating her entire village. Building her self up and taking advantage of the innate abilities she'd been gifted with, HaiKiuri has transformed her life, though memories from her past still haunt her. After roughly fifty years running a tea shop HaiKiuri found people beginning to grow suspicious, so she left Japan on a trader and soon found herself ensconced in the intrigues of Europe.
Other: HaiKiuri shares in the weaknesses of all gaki, in her human form she can be killed by burning or by cutting off her head. However in hunting form she is practically un-killable, this form can only be used when actively hunting prey and even then only for a short period of time. HaiKiuri has had over a hundred years to get used to her chosen weapons, the fans and needles used by the women of the Japanese court. Proficient with both metal and paper fans and knowledgeable in the areas of poison HaiKiuri is best suited for subtle killings and delicate assassinations, skills she'd made much use of in her new home.
