She comforted her, as a friend. As she laid her head onto Shayde's lap, she gently stroked the crying girl's hair, whispering words to calm her sobs. Ahh, Firniel. You knew I had a soft spot for you. I always thought that you'd never betray me. But I was wrong. So wrong.
I felt a trickle of blood dribble down my neck where Firniel had bit me. Startled, I push her away and stare at her, feeling the small wound. Her eyes were red as she grinned, blood staining her teeth.
One sarcastic word hissed out: "Sorry."
Then she had disappeared into the night, leaving me transforming into a vampyress. No longer human, but destined to gorge upon blood. Forever denied the human feelings and warmth of the sun. Forced to live in an eternal night.
Yet... I thank her. She had taken away so many gifts. But replaced it with another one. Immortality... well, of a sort.
