Vampire Kristopher Penn
Character description
Kristopher Penn, more commonly known as 'Kay', is an anomaly among vampires, a most unwilling victim. See rather than be the victim of a common vampire Kay had the misfortune of being bitten on purpose with a genetically modified vampire. As a result he is not your average vampire but a half-vamp, the product of a Watcher's Council experiment in a darker future where the council longs for power and will take down anything mystical without seeing the grey area between good and evil into which many magic creatures fall.
In life he was a watcher coming too close to the truth for comfort. He was intelligent, witty and a moral person who was betrayed by the very people he worked for and turned into the sort of monster he had previously been killing.
In death he was cynical and bitter and he had one heck of an excuse for being so. To be betrayed and robbed of life by people you had believed in was a devestating blow. As a half-vamp Kay felt the urges to kill and drink blood yet he maintained his soul and didn't want to kill. He took on a Nick Knight role in the world, killing murderers, thieves and those who deserved it when he had to kill at all. Sometimes the cravings would overtake him though.
Now he tries to live as a man while knowing he is not one. He has accepted this and is hardly your Angel figure, a "woe is me" vampire with angst. No he knows what he must do and he does so, he just does it with no joy in his heart. Unfortunently Kay's trust has been further betrayed as a result of his being held and tortured in a measure of tests to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the tamer breed of vampire, the new half-breed. With the help of an enlightened slayer, named Aeria, and a vampire who hasn't entirely been able to let go of his previous life, Logan Kinkaid, he escaped and now flees this corrupted council and their secret servicelike army of slayers.

Kay's physical appearance can be described aptly with one adjective, gold. Defying the darkness that surrounds him in his universe and the destiny dictated for him by the council, everything about Kay seems to be of a golden hue. Ironically his hair was dyed a deep shade of brown in life but the dye has since grown out, leaving him with waves of a golden blonde colour. He often is seen with a few days growth on his chin and jawline but Kay never lets it grow long enough to become a beard. Kay is rarely content and so a true smile is a rare delight, his full lips more commonly curving into a half smile. It is his eyes that are perhaps his most striking feature because Kay has eyes of a true gold even when not in vampire form. Although they occasionally reflect other colours from blue to brown under different light sources his eyes are naturally gold and always have been. Since his eyes don't change colour when he shifts faces Kay appears more human than other vampires and/or half-breeds even when morphed into vampire visage. It can also be seen more clearly in his eyes the trace of humanity that most half-breed vampires contain within them by way of their soul. Due to Kay's unusual golden eyes and his leadership qualities Kay has been nicknamed "Arthur" for the once and future king of legend who, in some incarnations of the legend, was said to be golden-eyed.
Despite being good looking enough to maintain his own charm and appeal, Kay is not the conventional description of handsome. At 5"10 he is hardly a tall man and Kay's slim to average build could be deceptive if one were to see it as a determiner of muscle strength. His body displays the scars of years past because, as an experimental half-breed vampire, his wounds don't heal as fast and if his body is subjected to constant harm and stress then he may scar permanently. Kay walks with a very slight limp which is almost unnoticeable unless one is looking for it. Despite this slight limp though he is able to move freely and at a relatively quick pace with ease. Kay also has a leader's presence about him which he has gained over the years and he is able to command naturally even when soft spoken in his at times lyrical voice.
When it comes to clothing Kay is not picky, just glad that he has a choice at all. While a part of the 'colony' he preferred long sleeved shirts in darker colours so that any blood from his wounds would not be visible and so that the bruising on his arms couldn't be seen. As a human though he more commonly wore brighter rich shades of blue, green and crimson. He wears mostly jeans or khakis and T-shirts with jackets when he can but will wear just about anything, grateful for any individuality he can muster.
