My heart beats faster as I climb these endless steps towards something unknown to me. What awaits me beyond? blood pumps throughout me like waves upon a distant shore, yet I push forth... Forth into the light above... Is it the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel? My pathway ahead is lit by dim torches, but is yet inviting... Why fear? Is it not what we are meant to? Is it not our destined, our predetermined path set in stone by forces beyond our comprehension ages ago... Well, given a choice... Whether to rule a corrupt and failing empire... Or to challenge the fates for another throw, a better throw against one's destiny, what is a king to do? But does one truly have a choice? We can only meet step by step the machinations of fate... And thus defy the tyrannous stars... And so I accept the path ahead to me, and find myself in the hall... What else to do but to walk it... Darkness lights my obscure path, and my heart yet beats...
I turn back. It is not my will to go... My will be done, my place restored... I drop through the hypnotic fabric of time and space and retake the body that was once mine... It is as they say... No one spreads as much darkness as the one who has seen the last true lights of death...
